JIS card
The JIS card (JIS = Unified Identification System) is an identification card for students of the University of West Bohemia. With the JIS card, students can enter various UWB premises, such as dormitories, laboratories and other rooms with restricted access, and canteens. The card can be used in UWB libraries and for self-service printing and copying. More information on the use of the JIS card can be found in the Regulation 16R/2014 "Identification cards" (in czech).
JIS+Pilsen Card
The JIS + PK card (PK = Pilsen Card) allows its holder to use all services offered by UWB and also all benefits provided by the Pilsen Transportation Company (Plzeňské městské dopravní podniky).
Obtaining the JIS/JIS+Pilsen Card
In order to obtain the JIS card it is necessary to:
- Submit the JIS card application form via the webpage jis.zcu.cz.
- Students who apply for the card electronically must pay a handling fee of CZK 100 (JIS card) or 300 CZK (JIS + PK Card ) to the UWB bank account 143 929 001/5500. The variable symbol is the applicant’s birth certificate number without slash (e.g.: 8252127143, i.e. the "/" character must be omitted). Foreigners with an assigned birth certificate number must pay this fee at the UWB cash desk.
- Be registered in the study information system (this is entirely within the authority of the Office of Academic Studies of individual faculties).
- Continuously check the webpage jis.zcu.cz.
- Pick up the card at HelpDesk CIV.
Where to pick up your card
You can pick up the card in room UI205 HelpDesk CIV. Before you pick up the card, check if it is ready for you at the webpage http://jis.zcu.cz or at the CIV HelpDesk (phone number 377 638 888).
The CIV office is located in the UI building, which is a part of the main block of buildings on the Bory campus. If you are facing the building from the bus stop, it is situated on the right – see the picture.
The JIS card can be picked up by a proxy with an unverified power of attorney, which must include: full names, addresses, dates of birth, birth certificate numbers, the reason for representation, dates and signatures (you can download the template here: Power of Attorney). Fill in the form legibly in capital letters; inaccuracy or ambiguity may be a reason for rejection.

Lost cards
- If you lose you JIS Card, contact HelpDesk CIV,
- write an email from your university email address to: helpdesk@zcu.cz or
- visit the HelpDesk office and fill in the appropriate form.
Damaged JIS card
Visit the Help Desk office HelpDesk CIV .
- The damage of your JIS card will be analysed on site by a help desk employee, and you will be asked to fill in the form "JIS Identification Card Damage Record".
- Subsequently, an application for the issuance of a new JIS Card will be submitted.

How to return a JIS card
A JIS card can be returned at the HelpDesku CIV workplaces.
You can settle obligations towards the university library at any of its branches.
If you terminate your studies and still have money on your JIS card for canteen expenses, you can settle this electronically on the webpage portal.zcu.cz . Go to Me/JUK (Unified University Account) and check the box "I do not want to use JUK. The balance will be sent to your bank account or you can pick it up at the canteen office.

If you interrupt your studies, you can keep your JIS card once you settle all your obligations. We recommend that you set the remote password change.
JIS card “accessories”
With a JIS card you will receive:
- Orion-ID and password which you need to set up your electronic account.
- validation stamp - the stamp must be placed on the back of your JIS card at the beginning of each academic year. If there is a stamp on the card, it means that you are studying in the current academic year. The stamps for the first-year students are distributed by HelpDesk CIV; in the subsequent years of study, students obtain the stamp at their study departments. Students who already have a JIS card and study in the first year, receive the stamp at their Offices of Academic Studies.

Electronic confirmation of study for the Pilsen Public Transportation Office
Students of the University of West Bohemia can use the Pilsen public transport for reduced fees. In order to do so, the student has to “pair” his/her Pilsen and JIS card. By doing so, the Pilsen Card is registered in the UWB information system and the Pilsen Public Transportation office automatically receives the information that the holder of the Pilsen Card is a student.
Change of your personal data
If the personal data of a JIS card holder change, he/she must do the following: - report the change at the relevant Office of Academic Studies, - pay a handling fee to the UWB bank account, - submit an application for the issuance of a new JIS card.
Changed personal details include:
- change of name, surname,
- or degree.
